Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development
Virginia’s largest city needed a powerful tool to help businesses interested in moving to the area locate available properties and resources. Now the city is not only drawing attention from companies around the world, they’re also leading the industry with cutting-edge technology.
The Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development (VBDED) envisioned a one-of-a-kind mobile app that would drive growth through an interactive platform where businesses could learn about the city’s and the region’s unique assets with the help of virtual tours, interactive maps, demographics, and business districts, as well as listings of available office and warehouse space through real-time commercial real estate searches.
The result is an industry first that gives companies around the world the ability to look at available properties before they even step foot in the city. The “Yes Virginia Beach” iPad app is the most innovative and fully customized site selection app in the business. The robust mapping system lets users instantly find the information they need, including demographic statistics, business districts, business costs, area workforce, target industries, points of interest, and available properties.
The property search functionality and design were so well received that VBDED asked vh.Agency to create a stand-alone web version for inclusion on YesVirginiaBeach.com, as well as the city’s YesOceana incentive program website.
“We are thrilled to lead the way with this new technology. Our current prospects are looking at Virginia Beach from around the world, so we are prepared to push our assets and strengths in a completely customizable format. We anticipate releasing new layers through the App Store to expand and improve our prospects’ virtual experience.”
