Visual Harbor recently helped Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) to launch 4 websites for their new car safety program, Car Safety Now.
After receiving grants from the Virginia DMV Highway Safety Office, EVMS was able to create a program geared towards improving car safety for school age children and teens. The program features Make it Click, Boost’ Em in the Backseat, and In Control: Beyond Distraction, which provides educational resources for teachers and parents to instill in students.
Make it Click is designed specifically to encourage children and teenagers to wear their seatbelts. This campaign can be viewed at www.umakeitclick.org and features games, printouts, a downloadable toolkit, and interesting facts on seatbelt safety.
Boost’ Em in the Backseat can be seen at www.boosterseats4safety.org and provides educational videos to emphasize the importance of booster seat use for children.
Lastly, In Control: Beyond Distraction can be viewed on www.incontrolprogram.org and provides important information for teens about how cell phone use can be a distraction. This program’s goal is to prevent teen car crashes by providing education tools to help teenagers realize that cell phones can distract them from safe driving through a comic book style approach. These new tools are perfect resources for teachers and parents when providing their students with safe driving tools.
